Static Analysis Tools Expo - NIST

SATE WorkshopOctober 1st – Sometimes mom gets enjoyment out of the strangest things. Today mom and I went to NIST again and went to the Software Assurance Forum.  This day was the Static Analysis Tools Expo which apparently is something about the work they’ve been doing to make sure that software doesn’t have bugs in it using automated tools.  I don’t know what that all means, but mom was excited about it.

She had a great time listening to the talks, talking with the vendors and others who were at the conference, learning about the tools being used and how they work.  She was especially excited about a new language in the development phase that builds static analysis and parallelism natively into the language.  It really got her interest in computer languages going again, something she says she always enjoyed.

Of course, everyone loved me.  One even mentioned that having me there really brightened things up!  I did better today at lying quietly during the conference and even managed to stay lying down a few times when people started clapping.

We participated in the whole day attending all the sessions, talking to people and giving some input.  Mom said she really enjoyed being in that environment and found the conference very stimulating.  She had a lot of fun.  Some people might think that strange, after all we’re on vacation, but sometimes just doing something different is a vacation.
